MasterChef Thailand:
Opening Culinary Horizons
for CDI Students

Culinary Arts and Design, School of Humanities and Tourism Management, Bangkok University International, hosted a special meet-and-learn session with Chef Lee Pornchanan Pattanapanyasat, Champion of MasterChef Thailand Season 4, at the Demonstration Kitchen on the 5th floor of the Tourism Tower.

Chef Lee, a Pastry Chef and alumnus of the Culinary Arts Academy Switzerland (CAAS), shared his experiences with first and second-year students, recounting his journey from beginning his studies at CAAS to achieving success as a professional in Thailand's pastry industry. These valuable lessons provided students with insights they can apply to their future careers.

The highlight of the event was a demonstration of Chocolate and Roasted Almond Ladyfingers, a classic confection that combines baking techniques, delicate precision, and artistic presentation. Students witnessed the professional workflow, from ingredient preparation, mixing techniques, and baking to plating, with each step demonstrating meticulousness and attention to detail. The experience became even more special when students participated in the demonstration, working hands-on alongside Chef Lee. This created an interactive learning environment where students could taste the results of their collaborative work—not only delicious but also filled with pride and memorable moments.

The session concluded with a Q&A period, allowing students to ask questions and receive direct advice from Chef Lee on topics ranging from cooking techniques, skill development, and industry challenges to success tips from competing in MasterChef Thailand. The answers and insights received served as motivation, inspiring students and boosting their confidence to pursue their path toward becoming professional chefs.

The event featured an additional special component: a presentation about the CDI–CAAS joint degree program by Mr. Paul Caunter from Swiss Education Group. This opportunity is ideal for students seeking to elevate their education and experience to an international level. Studying in Switzerland, a country renowned for world-class Culinary Arts education standards, represents a significant step that broadens perspectives and creates opportunities to work with leading organizations worldwide.

This special event was more than typical classroom learning—it was an experience of true value, filled with inspiration, creativity, and the taste of genuine success. Students from the Culinary Arts and Design program left with fresh perspectives and renewed determination to develop themselves toward achieving their future goals.
