"Board Game Creative Design for Academic Integration" — Integrating Learning Through Board Game Design to Strengthen Creative Thinking Skills

Library and Learning Spaces Office continues to advance creative learning by launching the "Board Game Creative Design for Academic Integration Project" — aimed at developing students' analytical thinking, design skills, and knowledge integration through a systematic board game design process.

The project was established through a collaboration between Bangkok University and the Creative Economy Agency (Public Organization) (CEA), under the miniTCDC Link initiative to expand design learning opportunities to regional areas. Industry experts from the creative sector were brought in to share real-world knowledge and experience directly in the classroom.
Two Core Activities — Theory and Practice in Full

Activity 1: Mentoring Session — Board Game
Conducted in conjunction with GI341 Game Design I, Game and Interactive Media Program, Faculty of Information Technology and Innovation.
Students engaged intensively in the game design process Dr. Nattapol Aorpipat, a board game designer, served as speaker and mentor, providing in-depth guidance on developing their projects.

Activity 2: Design Thinking for Financial Board Game
Conducted in conjunction with IGE106 Financial Literacy and Sustainable Development, International College.
This workshop focused on applying Design Thinking to the design of finance-themed board games. Students explored game elements, mechanics, and creative communication of financial concepts through hands-on practice, guided by Perus Saranurak (X), an expert board game designer.

This project reflects Bangkok University's teaching philosophy of integrating knowledge across multiple disciplines through the creative tool of board games — which serve not only as entertainment, but as powerful instruments for learning, communication, and developing 21st-century skills. Participants gained direct experience from industry experts and practiced systems thinking, creative problem solving, teamwork, and presentation skills — all of which can be built upon in future real-world projects.

The initiative further reinforces Bangkok University's role as a Creative Learning Hub.
