BUCA X LINE Thailand to Launch "Digital Literacy for Smart Young Gen" Project

School of Communication Arts (BUCA), in collaboration with LINE Thailand, organized the "LINE Connect Day: Digital Literacy for Smart Young Gen" project to build knowledge and skills in media literacy, online safety, and critical financial decision-making for students enrolled in the Digital Media Literacy course, Communication Arts and New Media program, at Pongtip Meeting Room 1, School of Communication Arts, Bangkok University.

The event was honored by K.Nicharat Archnayasitiwat, Chief Marketing Officer of LINE Thailand, who delivered the opening remarks and emphasized the importance of building "digital immunity" among the younger generation to enable them to use online platforms safely, responsibly, and thoughtfully.

The project is part of a collaboration between academic institutions and the private sector to develop students' readiness for life and work in the digital age. LINE Thailand has continuously pursued Digital Literacy initiatives and this year expanded its efforts to university students, promoting creative and critical use of technology. Participants heard lectures and exchanged knowledge with experts across multiple fields:

Session 1: LINE Smart — Use It Well, Stay Safer Presented by LINE Thailand speakers, this session focused on understanding LINE's role in daily life and provided guidance on safe usage, including privacy settings, account hacking prevention, suspicious link verification, and proper use of the platform's safety features — all to reduce digital risks effectively.

Session 2: Think Smart — Online Threat Awareness Skills for the New Generation This session was divided into two sub-topics:
- The Art of Not Becoming a Victim by Dr.Trinh Phoruksa, criminologist — highlighting psychological mechanisms used by fraudsters such as emotional pressure, fear, and greed, and recommending analytical thinking before clicking, sharing, or transferring money.
- Online Scams in the Digital Era: Risks the New Generation Should Know by Pol Col Neti Wongkulab, Head of Public Relations, Anti-Cyber Scam Center (ACSC) — presenting common online fraud patterns such as phishing, identity impersonation, investment scams, and fake online shopping, along with preventive measures and reporting procedures.

Session 3: Invest Smart — Smart and Safe Investing for the New Generation Presented by K.Sethawat Phutrakul, Assistant Director of Capital Market Knowledge Development and Promotion, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) — focusing on investment fundamentals, the difference between investing and speculation, risk assessment, and verifying the credibility of investment sources, with warnings about investment scams disguised as social media advertisements.

Session 4: Build Income with LINE — Anyone Can Start Presented by K.Aiyapat Wankawisan (Coach Ai), LINE Certified Coach — introducing LINE as a tool for creating career opportunities and income, including LINE Official Account usage, professional customer communication, building an online presence, and systematically developing small businesses using digital platforms.

Beyond academic training, students were also assigned a lesson-reflection activity and tasked with producing creative short video clips under the "Moral Drama" concept to demonstrate their understanding of Digital Literacy topics such as fake news, online scams, identity fraud, personal data security, and prudent investing. Selected works will be published through LINE Thailand's digital channels to promote public media literacy — giving students the opportunity to apply their knowledge in practice and create a positive social impact.

This project reflects the role of the Faculty of Communication Arts, Bangkok University, in developing students with essential 21st-century skills — critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and digital social responsibility — while reinforcing an industry-integrated learning approach to prepare students to become quality digital citizens in the future.
