BUHTM Challenge from Pathum Thani to Design Creative Festival for Sustainability

Real Challenges for Students to Design Festivals that can connect with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

School of Humanities and Tourism Management implemented the academic service project "Designing Pathum Thani for Sustainable Creative Festival: Driving SDGs into Action" to promote area-based learning for students and support driving Pathum Thani Province toward a sustainable creative city. The project was honored by the Pathum Thani Provincial Tourism and Sports Office, which provided "real challenges" for students to design festivals that can connect with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Strengthening Knowledge with Experts from National-Level Tourism and Event Industries

The project was honored by Mr. Oerblap  Sripirom, Director of Tourism Products Division, Tourism Authority of Thailand, who lectured and advised students on the topic "The Role of Tourism in Driving SDGs Toward a Sustainable Future," conveying knowledge on tourism product development, product selection, sustainable tourism standards, and destination enhancement, helping students understand the framework for designing festivals aligned with Pathum Thani's area context.

Ms. Parichat  Sawetsaranee, Director of Mega Events and International Festivals Development Division, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau
(TCEB - Public Organization), lectured on "The Role of Mega Events and International Festivals in Driving SDGs Toward a Sustainable Future," providing perspectives on event strategy planning and the role of festivals as important tools for driving urban economy and creative tourism.

Developing Skills Through Real Work: From Provincial Challenges to New Generation Ideas

Students participated in area surveys, analyzed potential, and developed data into creative festival prototypes that address SDG goals and Pathum Thani City's needs.

The project closing activity was held under the name "Tourism Students Release Work Year 7," where students presented their festival designs to expert judges including:

  • Ms. Saengjun  Kaewprathumrasmi, Pathum Thani Provincial Tourism and Sports Office
  • Dr. Songwat  Sukmueangma, Event Content & Business Development Manager, AME IMAGINATIVE Company (Amarin Corporation Public Company Limited Group)

They provided professional perspectives and recommendations to help students develop festival prototypes for real application while promoting integration of knowledge in tourism, creative cities, and SDGs.

This academic service project is part of School of Humanities and Tourism Management commitment to developing students' potential to "Think - Do - Solve Real Problems," while building cooperation with government agencies and industries to elevate Pathum Thani City with the creative power of the new generation.
