BU Traditional Debate "PHEORONEXIS Debate 2025": Igniting the Power of Rhetoric for a New Society
The Speech and Debate Club organized the "Bangkok University Traditional Debate Competition" under the concept "PHEORONEXIS Debate 2025: Dawn Flame of Debate War... for a New Society," aiming to promote rational communication skills and the spirit of new generation debaters. Because every word is not just competition, but the power that can change the world.
Within the championship round, Ms. Methisa varitrotjanathon, President of the Speech and Debate Club, welcomed the competitors, faculty members, and judges. There were also performances from the Communication Arts Drama Family activity group and the Thai Music and Dance Club.
Simultaneously, the event was honored by the presence of A. Sittipong Prempraphan, Director of the Center for Holistic Student Development, who presented the awards.
A total of 8 teams participated in the competition from the Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics and Investment, as well as independent teams from various programs.
The competition was held in 4 rounds, from the qualifying round to the championship round. Team "Cookie & Cream" (Independent Team), team members: Ms. Natthakarn Siangfung, Mr. Preekarn Chukittipiriyasak, Ms. Thanphachitcha Phonyhing, Mr. Thachanon Klomjit, Mr. Thanakorn Mingyai, Ms. Nattanicha Chatawattanasopakon, and Ms. Pimchanok Chaloemwong won the championship with a 3,000 baht scholarship and meal vouchers worth 2,200 baht.
The First Runner-up award went to Team Ctrl + W(win) (Independent Team), team members: Ms. Lalitwaree Chaimano, Ms. Juntarun Para-rati, Ms. Nattanicha Chaloemkhwanchai, Ms. Pawarisa Alice, and Mr. Pongphet Wongsawat, receiving a 2,000 baht scholarship along with the Outstanding Cheer Award. The Outstanding Debater Award went to Ms. Lalitwaree Chaimano.
The Second Runner-up award went to Team Economics Chamber of Wisdom and Debate (Representative from the Faculty of Economics and Investment), team members: Ms. Weerapattra Hongthong, Mr. Boonyasak Dunyasakchai, Ms. Jiamjit Chinawong, and Mr. Sittithannasin Thiranayrotkon, receiving a 1,000 baht scholarship.
The Third Runner-up award went to Team Voice of Victory (Independent Team), team members: Ms. Sujitra Sangthong, Mr. Kritsana Saelo, Ms. Pattranun Jintaseranee, Mr. Supawich Thandee, Mr. Thanakrit Rung-ruang, Mr. Christmas Kongphet, and Mr. Phatthanun Thuaycharoen, receiving a 500 baht scholarship.
This project reflects the commitment of the Speech and Debate Club, Bangkok University, to creating a space for exchanging ideas, practicing rational thinking, and cultivating the power of communication to drive Thai society toward a better future.
