Communication Arts Students Team Up with Creative Ideas, Sweeping 7 Awards at a National Competition

Showcasing creative storytelling ideas in advertising production, a team of students from School of Communication Arts swept 7 awards, covering every award category, at the national-level "COOL THE EARTH – 60 Seconds to Change the World to Cool" project, organized by PTT Public Company Limited. The competition called for 60-second advertisements focused on communicating the concept of reducing greenhouse gases and raising sustainable environmental awareness. A total of 385 teams from universities nationwide took part, going through a roadshow process and training from experts before being narrowed down to the final 10 teams.

Winner: Team "COOL KIDS, COOL LIFE" — Members: Mr. Peerapon Kittikulchat, Mr. Chatsarun Kanha, Ms. Apinya Suklertwiriyakul, Ms. Pariyada Chairat, and Ms. Jirantanin Maomordee, students in the Communication and New Media program. Received a scholarship of 150,000 baht.

1st Runner-up: Team "Lankhun" — Members: Mr. Parin Nangngam and Mr. Sutthawee Jaisa-ngiam, students in the Broadcasting and Streaming Media Production program. Received a scholarship of 60,000 baht.

2nd Runner-up: Team "New Creators, Real Income" — Members: Ms. Kanchana Sukkasem and Ms. Chalothorn Watcharasanchaikul, students in the Broadcasting and Streaming Media Production program. Received a scholarship of 30,000 baht.

Popular Vote Award: Members: Ms. Thanaporn Woharn and Ms. Prapawarin Hinyai, students in the Broadcasting and Streaming Media Production program, and Ms. Yotsita Srinak, a student in the Communication and New Media program. Received a scholarship of 20,000 baht.

Honorable Mentions: Team "Khaen Baeo," Team "Cool Mai Krub," and Team "Born Toey Purenon."

From Idea to National Champion

Team "COOL KIDS, COOL LIFE" turned an environmental brief into a nationally recognized work, offering a relatable, close-to-home perspective with a creative concept that exposed the problems of the fast fashion industry in a fresh way that resonated strongly with young people.

"We looked for an angle different from traditional environmental campaigns. Instead of talking about global warming in broad terms, our team chose to focus on 'fast fashion' and the issue of textile waste — something close to young people's everyday lives — as our main content. We believe that communicating about something the audience can personally relate to creates a greater impact and drives more meaningful change."

Developing the Work Every Step of the Way, From Idea to Quality Output

"After being selected into the final 20 teams, we didn't stop at just the idea — we moved forward with development, supported by faculty advisors who gave guidance and believed in our concept. This included revising the storyboard, researching statistical data, planning production, and preparing systematically. Once we reached the final 10 teams and received production funding, we made every day count — preparing equipment, selecting wardrobe, planning the shoot, and producing the work within a tight deadline, resulting in a clip with strong quality in both content and production."

Telling the Story Their Own Way Made the Work Stand Out

"One of the team's key strengths was daring to break away from conventional storytelling. We chose a Gen Z and Y2K atmosphere to present environmental content in a fun, easy-to-understand way that directly connected with our target audience. Beyond the distinctive presentation style, we also placed strong emphasis on researching real data, using statistics to support our narrative, and delivering a concise pitch."

More Than Just the Awards

"Even though the competition has ended, what every team member gained is worth more than the award itself — long-term planning skills, teamwork, on-the-spot problem-solving, presenting in front of a judging panel, and collaborating with national-level experts."

This experience also allowed the students to discover their own potential, appreciate the value of their teammates, and realize that classroom knowledge can be turned into real-world work — if one dares to think, dares to act, and stays open to every opportunity. It has become an important lesson that will carry forward into their future careers.
