School of Communication Arts x Thai PBS Partner on Short Documentary Project to Raise Awareness of the SDGs Through a Youth Perspective
The Department of Broadcasting and Streaming Media Production (BRS), School of Communication Arts, Bangkok University, in collaboration with the Thai Public Broadcasting Service (Thai PBS), has launched the "SDGs Insight with Thai PBS x BRS313" project.
The initiative gives more than 500 students enrolled in BRS313: Streaming Media Production the opportunity to explore public-interest issues and the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the process of documentary storytelling. The event was held at Building C9-104 (Broadcasting Studio 3), School of Communication Arts, Bangkok University.
The project was honored by the Editorial Board of the Network and Public Participation Bureau, Thai PBS, who shared their expertise with students and assigned four documentary themes for production:
- Climate Change and Human Disruption: How Can We Survive? (Adapting to global warming)
- Living in an Era of High Prices and Low Wages (Economy and adaptation)
- Growing Up as Gen Z Is Exhausting (Education and quality of life)
- Bangkok: A Good Life, Well Balanced (Quality of life, urban development, and sustainable communities)
Students will produce 2–3 minutes short documentaries based on these four themes, with completed works submitted to Thai PBS for review and selection for future broadcast.
This activity was organized to advance Project-based Learning in the curriculum, giving students the opportunity to learn through direct collaboration with industry professionals. The initiative provides hands-on experience in quality media production while cultivating awareness of the media's role and responsibility in society.
