BU Cyber Booster: Empowering the New Generation with
Legal Knowledge to Combat Cyber Threats

School of Law and General Education Administration Center organized a seminar and special lecture titled "BU Cyber Booster: Empowering the New Generation with Legal Knowledge to Combat Cyber Threats" to raise awareness and build immunity among students in protecting themselves from increasingly severe cybercrimes at Diamond Hall, 5th Floor, Building A3, Bangkok University.

Currently, Thai society is facing alarming technology-related crimes. Criminal groups have developed increasingly diverse and sophisticated methods of deception compared to the past, including impersonating government officials or financial institutions, stealing personal information, or opening fake bank accounts. Particularly concerning are "Romance Scam" cases that cause tremendous damage both financially and emotionally. Criminals use fake images or identities to deceive victims into falling in love, even to the point of fake marriages, before persuading them to transfer money, hand over assets, or invest through fake platforms. These scams employ psychological techniques (Social Engineering) combined with advanced technology such as AI Deep Fake for voice and face manipulation, or sending Phishing links to trick victims into revealing personal information. The most targeted groups are women, youth, and the elderly.

To raise awareness among students, this event was honored by the presence of Pol.Maj. Phakrit Krittayapong, Deputy Spokesperson of the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau 2, Royal Thai Police, who shared experiences and knowledge from actual operations, with A.Gunyootapong Nopakunas the moderator.

This activity was organized to create academic cooperation between the university and the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau 2, Royal Thai Police, focusing on providing students with legal knowledge, awareness of criminal tactics, the ability to use online media safely, and the capacity to transfer knowledge to their families and those around them. This represents another significant step by Bangkok University in developing students to become quality digital citizens, ready to face challenges in the technology era and capable of protecting themselves and society from cybercrimes effectively.
