Two BU Students Create Board Games from Ideas to Fun Creative Works Infused with Knowledge

Outstanding work, two students - Mr. Nawaphon Buason (Beam) and Ms. Suttida Chusomphop (Prao), students Art and Design program School of Fine and Applied Arts

Showcasing creative skills through outstanding work, 2 students - Mr. Nawaphon Buason (Beam) and Ms. Suttida Chusomphop (Prao), students Art and Design program School of Fine and Applied Arts - turned their ideas into reality through collaborative brainstorming with teammates from different universities. The result: board games that are fun, engaging, and educational. They participated in the creative Youth In Charge Creative Career Academy 2 project. The students' creations were available for public play at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Fair 2025 and Sustainability Expo 2025 (SX2025).

Challenge the Fun

"These two board games were born from the team's passion, with each member bringing diverse skills and interests. Beam is an avid board game enthusiast who has played every genre and deeply understands what makes games fun and how to design them. Prao loves drawing and personally designed all the characters for both games, selecting every mood and tone detail to create beautiful, creative works that are fun while incorporating knowledge."

Board Game Golden Age (Wai Kamlang Thong)

A team-based game requiring cooperation on the mission of caring for elderly family members. Players take on roles through 5 characters, completing caregiving tasks while facing various obstacles that require everyone to work together. Importantly, it emphasizes communication, simulating a family that must look after one another. This game was inspired by families with elderly members or aging parents - how will we care for them? Playing this game strengthens love and family bonds.

Board Game Electric Factory

A single-player game requiring only one sheet of paper and one pencil. This game subtly teaches players through various scenarios, forcing them to make their own choices in resource and energy management related to Carbon Footprint. It requires balance in all aspects, with scores based on maintaining resource equilibrium - not too much, not too little.

Embracing Problems with Heart

"We're both growing up in an era where everyone wants to own a business and get rich, but does anyone realize that this world is falling apart? Or family problems where some households face serious crises from lack of communication, creating small issues that cause frustration? We want to be part of solving these problems. Therefore, we want to reflect stories and raise social awareness through what we do best, using knowledge and experience, applying creativity to develop games we're proud of - games that provide fun with meaningful entertainment."

Enhancing Skills and Advancing Passion

"For the Youth In Charge Creative Career Academy 2 (YIC CCA2) project, this is our second year participating. It's an excellent program because each year has different themes, and this year's topic was creating work that drives Thai Pop Culture further than ever before. The project provides training through workshops, with coaches from various industries sharing knowledge and helping us think through and create works based on what we love. If you missed it, next year you must join because you'll gain various skills to integrate collaborative design into projects. You'll discover this program brings together talented people to meet and discuss in a community that truly inspires."
