Join in Transforming the World Toward Sustainability: BU-ITI Students Advance Innovation to Change the Future of Thai Industry

Opening the Classroom Door to the Real Workplace to Practice and Challenge Accumulated Skills and Knowledge, Ms. Phakjira Ratchatanit (Lookmi), a student in the Computer Science program, School of Information Technology and Innovation, gained hands-on experience in the medical and construction industries while creating innovation that will be an important step toward green transformation in the Innovator Journey project with the National Innovation Agency (NIA).

Over 4 months, the student learned, discovered real problems, and developed ideas to address Green Transformation as part of Team 16: GreenBIM Intelligence Platform at Applicad Public Company Limited.

Interest in Self-Discovery
"Joining this project was purely based on interest. For this project, we had to choose from available companies, and the companies also had to select students. Both sides needed to be aligned to be matched. Our team consisted of 2 people: Lookmi and Pink Pie, partners from different universities. We both excel in different areas, so we chose a company that answered our interests in both Technology and Sustainability."

Advancing GreenBIM Intelligence Platform
"The GreenBIM Intelligence Platform was originally a mock-up from the company - a website that calculates materials for building construction and determines how much Carbon Footprint must be paid or offset. Lookmi and Pink Pie worked to make this website accessible to diverse types of users in an easy-to-understand way so anyone can use it. We had to study and learn as both backend developers and actual users to understand every step of the process."

Invaluable Experience
"From theory in the classroom to actually doing fieldwork, I realized that what the classroom teaches is very important because everything is there. And some things the classroom gives us become lifelong skills that we must use - the most important being Communication - how to communicate with others. The senior staff who took care of us were excellent, providing guidance without hesitation, teaching everything as if we were part of their company, not just interns. They let us meet other teams who would use the website - feedback from the perspective of people who know nothing about it is like a key that helps guide us to answers for success in making the website or what we create truly user-friendly."
