Standing Out on the Cybersecurity Path: IT Student Earns Two International Certifications

Congratulations to Danupon Thepsing or Not, a third-year student in Computer Science - Data Science and Cybersecurity at the School of Information Technology and Innovation, who has passed two international certification exams: Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) and CompTIA Security+. This marks an important step toward his future career in cybersecurity.

The Beginning of Success
Not shares about his preparation for the Certified in Cybersecurity exam: "During the summer break, I had quite a lot of free time. Being in my third year and approaching graduation, I researched what I needed to prepare for if I wanted to work in this field. I also consulted with friends who recommended taking a specific course focused on exam preparation. Additionally, I studied from guidebooks and online courses to strengthen my knowledge before taking the actual exam."

For the CompTIA Security+ certification, another world-renowned certification that measures IT security knowledge and serves as another pathway for those working in IT, he adds: "For this exam, I received additional advice from my professor about how it would benefit my future career, so he encouraged me to take it and recommended a free 5-day training course."
Beyond the knowledge gained for exam preparation, Not mentions that attending this training allowed him to meet new friends from various backgrounds-high school students, students from other institutions, and working professionals-creating opportunities to network and exchange knowledge.

Self-Discovery and Future Planning
Not talks about his journey of self-discovery: "I was a high school student with various dreams-wanting to be a nurse, a musician, or an artist. Cybersecurity was something I had a small interest in. When deciding on my path and researching options, I found that Bangkok University was among the first in Thailand to offer a program focusing on Data Science and Cybersecurity. Learning it was one of the pioneering universities increased my interest. After enrolling, I discovered that I truly enjoyed it and found myself."

Advice for Those Interested in Certification
For those interested in following the same path, Not advises: "Whether it's certification exams, competitions, or various activities, I encourage everyone to be open-minded and brave enough to learn. Certainly, certifications are professional qualifications or proof of our knowledge that can be collected and included in our portfolio for employment. But one thing that doesn't require certification is the experience hidden within us, which will shine through when we work in real life."
