BUFIP Student Wins TikTok Contest on Financial Literacy

Bangkok University proudly celebrates another remarkable achievement by Jay Munkong Khoocharoensup, a student from Financial and Investment Planning Program (BUFIP), who claimed first place in the TikTok Contest under the CAMPAIGN ON CAMPUS 2: "Building Financial DNA" project, organized by the Securities and Exchange Commission, Thailand (SEC), along with a prize of 15,000 Baht.
About the Project
The SEC launched CAMPAIGN ON CAMPUS 2 with a mission to cultivate financial and investment literacy among the new generation. Leading financial experts were deployed directly to university campuses, delivering knowledge through an Edutainment format — a dynamic blend of academic content and entertainment designed to make learning engaging, accessible, and enjoyable for students.
One of the project's key highlights was inviting participants to transform their newly acquired knowledge into a TikTok video clip, sharing financial insights in their own unique style with the public — effectively empowering students to become a new generation of "Financial Communicators."

Choosing a Relevant Topic: The Silent Threat of the Crypto World
Jay chose to present the topic "Know the Crypto Scams", identifying it as one of the most relevant issues facing young people today. "I chose to talk about scams related to cryptocurrency — something many people are interested in but can sometimes be deceived by. The core content came from the training sessions, supplemented by my own online research," he explained.
Beyond its relevance to daily life, Jay noted that the topic closely aligned with the SEC's core objective of raising public awareness and protecting people from financial fraud.

Using AI as a Creative Partner — Building a Clip from Scratch
Despite having a solid foundation in finance, Jay openly admitted he had zero experience in video production. He turned to Generative AI as his creative assistant throughout the process. "I had a story I wanted to share, but had no idea how to tell it. I used Generative AI to guide me through the clip creation process, suggest engaging presentation formats, and help restructure my content into something more digestible — until it became the clip titled 'Know the Crypto Scams.'"
Going beyond AI assistance, Jay also researched what type of content would resonate most with the judges, ultimately concluding that self-narration paired with clean, instantly understandable graphics was the winning formula.

Overcoming Every Challenge
The production process was far from easy. Jay faced multiple challenges, including organizing content clearly without losing key messages, editing footage for a smooth flow, and selecting visuals that required full creative imagination.
His guiding principle throughout was always putting the audience first. "I used simple, short, and concise language because I didn't want viewers to feel lost — I wanted them to stay engaged until the very end." Being a young person himself gave Jay a natural instinct for how his peers preferred to receive information.

Lessons Beyond the Classroom
Beyond the trophy and prize money, Jay reflected that the most valuable gain was the new perspectives and skills acquired through this experience. "The greatest thing I received was a fresh creative outlook and a new understanding of how to produce a clip. Without this activity, I never would have had the chance to truly understand or experience it firsthand."
Jay's achievement stands as an inspiring example of how professional knowledge, digital skills, and innovative technology can be combined to communicate meaningful messages that benefit society — and serves as a powerful inspiration for future students to step forward and create impactful work in their own way.
