BU x JASPAL GROUP Unleashes Creative Power to Transform High-Quality Textile Waste into Fashion Innovations
School of Fine and Applied Arts at Bangkok University continues to promote sustainable fashion concepts while empowering the potential of emerging designers through the project “RE-LIFE FABRIC: BU x JASPAL GROUP SUSTAINABLE COLLABORATION 2026.” This initiative is a collaboration between the Fashion Design Program, School of Fine and Applied Arts, and JASPAL GROUP, one of the region’s leading fashion and lifestyle companies.
The project provides students with an opportunity to creatively repurpose high-quality leftover fabrics from the production processes of brands under JASPAL GROUP into contemporary fashion products. Guided by the principles of resource efficiency and environmental responsibility, the project forms part of the Fashion Management & Entrepreneurship course. Third-year Fashion Design students gain hands-on experience working with a leading fashion company while developing their analytical, creative, and design skills under real-world material constraints. This reflects Bangkok University’s Practical Learning approach, which aims to strengthen creativity, management capabilities, and sustainability awareness within the fashion industry.
Throughout the project, students received close guidance from Asst. Prof.Dr.Natsupa Jaroenyingwattana Associate Dean, School of Fine and Applied Arts, and Dalita Ketsak, who encouraged participants to create works that successfully integrated creativity, functionality, and sustainability. The project also included a design competition to foster student innovation. The judging panel consisted of Assistant Professor Dr. Nattasupa Charoenyingwatana and Prasadee Silpasom, Visual Merchandise Department Manager at JASPAL GROUP.
A total of 23 bag designs were created under the theme “Season of Remnant,” giving new life to discarded materials through interpretations of the four seasons—Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. The collection showcased students’ ability to merge contemporary fashion with sustainable design concepts in innovative ways.
The winning team, “Peejayu,” drew inspiration from the tranquility and beauty of winter through the concept of a “Winter Garden,” symbolizing sustainable growth and continuous improvement based on the Kaizen philosophy.
The first runner-up team, “Team Dee Mak Loei,” interpreted the concepts of Ikebana and Wabi-sabi, expressing the beauty of imperfection through distinctive design. Meanwhile, the second runner-up team, “I LOVE MY JOB,” addressed agricultural waste by developing new materials from fruit peels and combining them with leftover fabrics from JASPAL GROUP. Their work reflected a creative approach to resource circulation and reuse.
The “RE-LIFE FABRIC: BU x JASPAL GROUP SUSTAINABLE COLLABORATION 2026” project serves not only as a platform for showcasing the talents of emerging designers but also as a testament to the strong partnership between academia and industry. Together, they are helping drive the future of Thailand’s fashion industry toward sustainability through creativity, design innovation, and social and environmental responsibility.
