BU AIR Organizes Aviation Week in Collaboration with Aviation Industry Partners to Develop Skills for the Next Generation of Aviation Professionals

Airline Business Management Program, School of Humanities and Tourism Management, organized the 1st Aviation Week to enhance students’ potential and prepare them for careers in the global aviation industry. The event featured professional learning activities that bridged classroom knowledge with real-world industry experience under the concept of a Practical University, emphasizing hands-on learning, analytical thinking, and the development of a professional mindset for future aviation professionals.

The program consisted of five key activities covering aviation law, safety, service excellence, professional standards, and sustainability in the aviation industry.

WING DAY: Not the Last, Just the Launch

One of the highlights of Aviation Week was “ABM 165 Wing Day 2026,” a proud milestone for airline business students that reflected their dedication, perseverance, and aspirations to pursue careers in the aviation industry under the theme “The Wings Are Earned, but the Journey Is Shared.”

The wing pinning ceremony was not only a symbol of students’ achievements but also the beginning of their journey into the professional aviation world. The wings represented responsibility, readiness, and the spirit of becoming future aviation professionals. Receiving the wings marked the first step on a professional path that requires knowledge, skills, resilience, and a service-oriented heart. The event was filled with pride, connection, and memorable moments for the BU AIR community.

Wing Day also reflected the learning philosophy of the Airline Business Management Program, which emphasizes Experiential Learning and future-ready skill development through simulations, industry collaboration, and the cultivation of a professional mindset. These approaches ensure students are prepared to work in the context of international airlines.

During the event, students participated in professional learning activities connected to real aviation industry practices, including personality development, job application preparation, and learning from alumni and industry experts through the PBL – Airline Recruitment Simulation Experience and Alumni Knowledge Sharing & Career Insights sessions.

The event was further enriched by an exclusive talk delivered by K.Danai Simarnon, Resourcing and Talent Manager, and K.Anyapat Wongsittilert, Deputy Head of People Department at Vietjet Thailand, who shared their experiences from the aviation industry. They provided insights into career pathways, skill development, and preparation for international workplace standards, helping students gain a deeper understanding of today’s aviation industry.

The atmosphere was filled with inspiration and strong connections among students, alumni, faculty members, and aviation professionals. Three distinguished alumni currently working at Thai Airways participated in the Knowledge Sharing: Inspiring Success Stories session, sharing their journeys from university life to professional careers:

  • K.Pongpirun Pakinamhang (Cabin Crew)
  • K.Pollatat Rattanaburi (Customer Service Agent)
  • K.Setthawut Chuchuay (Ramp Officer)

They contributed to making the occasion even more meaningful for students. Many participants agreed that Wing Day was more than just a university activity—it was a significant memory that reflected effort, growth, and progress toward achieving their dreams in the aviation industry. In aviation, wings may be visible symbols, but what truly enables aviation professionals to grow and succeed are passion, mindset, and a commitment to continuous self-development.

Aviation Law in Practice: Passenger Rights & Landside Operations By The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT)

The week began with a special lecture titled “Aviation Law in Practice: Passenger Rights & Landside Operations,”aimed at strengthening students’ understanding of aviation law, passenger rights, and international airport operational standards.

Experts from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) shared knowledge on passenger rights, landside operations, and standards established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), particularly Annex 9: Facilitation and Annex 17: Security, which are fundamental to airport facilitation and security management.

The session also included an interactive Q&A segment with industry professionals. Students had the opportunity to learn directly from K.Pongsathorn Punoppakit, an expert from CAAT, who explained how aviation laws are applied in real-world situations and highlighted the roles and responsibilities of airline personnel in actual operational contexts.

The activity was conducted as a Pre-field Training session, providing students with theoretical preparation before practical experience. It enabled them to connect aviation law, international standards, and airport operational procedures with real aviation industry practices while understanding the critical role of aviation law in facilitating passenger journeys, ensuring safety, and enhancing the overall travel experience.

This session demonstrated that aviation law is not merely a theoretical subject but a crucial component of decision-making, operations, and professional standards throughout the modern aviation industry.

Safety & Security – Strengthening Aviation Safety Culture in a Multicultural Context By Omni Logistics (Thailand) Ltd.

Building upon the foundation of aviation law and international standards, students participated in a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) activity titled “Safety & Security – Strengthening Aviation Safety Culture in a Multicultural Context.”

The activity aimed to enhance students’ understanding of Safety and Security Management while fostering awareness of safety culture within the global aviation industry.

Students learned that safety in aviation is not simply a matter of regulations and compliance but a shared culture that every individual within an organization must continuously uphold. They explored concepts related to safety culture and security management in international aviation and logistics environments while understanding the importance of promoting safety awareness within multicultural organizations.

Through realistic case scenarios, students practiced analytical thinking, risk-based decision-making, and problem-solving skills. These exercises reflected real operational situations in international aviation and logistics industries, helping students develop competencies in Safety and Security Management.

The session was led by K.Pattarawut Jinda, General Manager of Omni Logistics (Thailand) Ltd., who shared firsthand industry experiences and perspectives on building safety cultures within multinational organizations, managing safety and security in real operations, and addressing contemporary challenges in aviation and logistics.

The activity reinforced the idea that safety culture is not merely an organizational standard but a fundamental element of collaboration in the global aviation industry. It also highlighted the importance of mindset and critical thinking in preparing aviation professionals to navigate modern industry challenges.

Elevating Service Excellence and Global Standards By Thai AirAsia X

Another key event of Aviation Week was “BU AIR x Thai AirAsia X – Elevating Service Excellence & Global Standards,” which focused on service excellence and passenger experience within the context of international airlines.

The activity was based on the concept of Service Excellence, emphasizing that aviation service goes beyond passenger assistance—it involves creating memorable travel experiences through effective communication, attentive care, and professional problem-solving in accordance with international standards.

Students developed service excellence competencies aligned with global airline standards while improving their English Communication for Aviation skills through practical learning activities. They also engaged in Problem-Based Learning exercises that encouraged critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving based on real-world situations, enabling them to better understand passenger expectations within a global travel environment.

The session featured K.Siranee Sanguansat, Customer Care Manager at Thai AirAsia X, who shared practical insights into passenger services, customer experience management, and international service standards. Her expertise provided students with a realistic perspective on aviation industry operations.

The activity demonstrated that service excellence is not simply a customer service skill but a critical element in building passenger trust, creating memorable experiences, and maintaining international service standards throughout the aviation industry.

Ethical Digital Sustainability Marketing Strategy By Bangkok Air Aviation Training Center (BATC)

The final activity, “Ethical Digital Sustainability,” introduced students to the evolving role of sustainability in the era of Digital Transformation and ESG within the aviation industry.

The session emphasized that sustainability is not merely a marketing strategy or branding initiative but involves ethical decision-making, transparency, and accountability across all aspects of business operations.

Students explored the question: “Is the organization truly making ethical decisions?” rather than simply asking how an organization can appear sustainable. Through Problem-Based Learning activities based on airline business scenarios, students practiced analyzing situations and making decisions from the perspective of airline managers and professionals.

Participants learned about ethical decision-making in real business contexts, the application of the AEDM Framework for sustainability analysis, and the challenge of greenwashing, which has become increasingly significant as consumers place greater emphasis on ESG principles. They also explored effective and transparent sustainability communication strategies that build long-term stakeholder trust.

The session was led by experts from Bangkok Air Aviation Training Center (BATC):

  • K.Naruemon Damrongthai, Business Development Manager
  • K.Pakamas Muang-on, Sales and Marketing Manager

Both speakers shared real-world industry experiences and perspectives on ethics, sustainability, and strategic decision-making within the global aviation business environment.

The activity highlighted that sustainability in modern aviation extends beyond corporate image and marketing initiatives. It encompasses the ways organizations think, make decisions, and fulfill their responsibilities toward stakeholders. Students gained a deeper understanding of ethical thinking, business mindset, and sustainability as essential competencies for aviation professionals in today’s industry.

Overall, the 1st Aviation Week successfully provided students with valuable knowledge, practical skills, and industry exposure, reinforcing BU AIR’s commitment to producing future-ready aviation professionals equipped to meet international standards and contribute meaningfully to the global aviation industry.
