"Opening the World of Air Cargo" — Students Experience Aviation Logistics with Thai Airways

Airline Business Management program, School of Humanities and Tourism Management, organized a professional experience enrichment activity for students enrolled in Ramp Operations (ABM343) and Airline Catering Operations & Management (ABM344). The activity provided hands-on learning in ground operations and air cargo transportation through a study visit to Thai Airways' Cargo Division (THAI CARGO), Cargo Terminal Building, and Technical Division at Suvarnabhumi Airport.

The activity gave students the opportunity to learn about cargo warehouse operations and air freight in a real working environment — covering cargo management systems, facilitation of import/export operators, and handling procedures for various cargo types including general goods, heavy cargo, oversized cargo, hazardous materials, high-value goods, and postal items, all under aviation industry safety and operational standards.

The THAI CARGO division conducted lectures alongside simulation scenarios, practical-based workshops, and Problem-Based Learning (PBL) using real case studies from actual warehouse and cargo terminal operations. Students explored cargo management in a Customs Free Zone, Unit Load Device (ULD) management systems, and roller conveyor systems used for oversized cargo, as well as the Technical Division's role in supporting overall flight operations — giving students a comprehensive view of the aviation industry in practice.

This activity reflects the strong collaboration between Bangkok University and Thai Airways in jointly developing student potential through practical learning, aimed at building professional skills and preparing students for careers in the aviation industry.
