BU-ITI student chosen by a world-class tech company

In a remarkable achievement while still a student, Man Worapol Siriburi, a Computer Science student specialising in Data Science and Cybersecurity at School of Information Technology and Innovation (ITI), pursued opportunities that led him to the global stage. Starting from a genuine curiosity and the courage to seek new experiences, he was selected and appointed as IBM Z Student Ambassador for Academic Year 2025–2026 — an international programme by IBM aimed at developing the next generation of technology leaders in Mainframe and Enterprise Computing. He was also appointed by Amazon Web Services (AWS) as AWS Student Builder Group Leader, making him the first Thai student to hold an IBM Mainframe Ambassador role at the global level.

It Starts With You

"It all began with my interest in Software Engineering, Programming, and Cybersecurity. I decided to apply even though I had little experience with Mainframe or COBOL at the time. But my determination to learn pushed me to study and prepare before joining the programmes."

From the Classroom to a Global Tech Student Network

"One of the most memorable experiences was building a network with international peers from leading universities around the world. The programme included students from India, Singapore, Malaysia, and the United States — including those from top-ranked universities — where everyone had the chance to exchange knowledge and experience. Members stayed connected, continuously sharing updates on new technologies, events, and opportunities from global companies. For me, this wasn't just technical learning — it was opening a door to a world-class community that expanded my skills, language ability, and perspective on future career paths."

Cybersecurity — A Challenging Field That Requires Thinking Like a Hacker

"Beyond Software Engineering, I'm passionate about Cybersecurity because it's a field that constantly demands creative thinking. The work involves protecting systems from malicious actors — preventing attacks, data theft, and finding vulnerabilities before real hackers can exploit them. What makes Cybersecurity fascinating is that it never gets repetitive. Every day brings new problems: analysing systems, identifying weaknesses, and applying diverse techniques to detect anomalies. Even systems built by many experts can still develop new vulnerabilities, which means continuous learning is essential."

The Secret to Becoming a Brand Ambassador for a Global Tech Company

"The most important thing is a mindset open to new learning. Even without much prior knowledge, determination and enthusiasm were my driving forces. English doesn't need to be perfect — participants come from many countries and many accents; what matters is communicating clearly. My goal is to organise training activities and share technology knowledge with fellow students at my university, passing on these opportunities and helping grow the IT community in Thailand."

Bangkok University congratulates this student on his outstanding ability, dedication, and potential in reaching the international stage — a significant step in inspiring others and strengthening Thailand's growing technology community.
