Bangkok University: A Model Organization for Universal Design, Creating Opportunities and a Better Quality of Life for Everyone
Bangkok University has been selected as a model organization for driving Universal Design (UD) at the "UD (Universal Design) Fair for Persons with Disabilities and Well-being for All" event, held under the concept "From Law to Life: Design for All, Better Living for Everyone." The event was organized by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, in collaboration with the Foundation for Thai Persons with Disabilities and Thammasat University, with support from the Fund for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. The event was honored by Prof. Dr. Yosachon Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, who presided over the opening ceremony.
Assoc. Prof.Dr.Natthaphob Nimpitiwan, Vice President for Research and Educational Innovation Development, represented Bangkok University and the Pathum Thani Association for Persons with Disabilities in receiving the certificate recognizing the university as a model organization driving Universal Design, in recognition of the Samart Farm Project, a collaboration between Bangkok University and the Pathum Thani Association for Persons with Disabilities.
The Samart Farm Project aims to promote career opportunities for persons with disabilities through smart hydroponic lettuce farming, applying knowledge, technology, and innovation to increase employment opportunities, generate income, and improve quality of life so that participants can achieve sustainable self-reliance. This reflects Bangkok University's role in driving a more equitable society through Universal Design — aimed at creating benefits for persons with disabilities and society as a whole.
