From Classroom to Marketplace: Plan B Media and GSV Empower Fashion Design Students to Enter the Real Business World
Fashion Design Program, School of Fine and Applied Arts, continues to enhance experiential learning through industry-based projects in collaboration with Plan B Media Public Company Limited, the management company overseeing Global Sport Ventures (GSV), operator of Rajadamnern Stadium. The collaboration was carried out under the “Plan B Media – GSV x FSD BU Season II” project in the FSD344 Fashion Technology course, led by Asst. Prof.Dr.Thanotai Mongkolsin.
The project engaged 62 third-year Fashion Design students in hands-on learning experiences covering digital sports marketing, branding, and fashion technology applications. Students were challenged to communicate Thai cultural identity to international audiences through the design of contemporary fashion products.
K.Flo Napasab, Brand Manager of Global Sport Ventures | Rajadamnern Stadium, served as the industry partner by providing the design brief for fashion merchandise and commemorative T-shirt graphics for Rajadamnern Stadium. He also worked closely with faculty members to mentor and evaluate student projects throughout the learning process.
In addition to working on a real business challenge, students visited Rajadamnern Stadium to explore its history, brand identity, management strategies, and the use of digital technologies in elevating Muay Thai onto the global stage. The knowledge gained from this experience was subsequently transformed into creative design solutions.
Upon completing their projects, students presented their concepts and designs to the Rajadamnern Stadium team, receiving valuable feedback from industry professionals on design development, branding, marketing communication, and commercial feasibility. This experience significantly strengthened their presentation skills, creative communication abilities, and understanding of working within real-world business constraints.
The collaboration reflects Bangkok University’s educational philosophy of fostering Creativity, Internationalization, and Technology while building an Industry Ecosystem that bridges academia and professional practice. The initiative prepares students for future careers by creating pathways for commercialization, internships, and professional networking opportunities.
A notable achievement of the project was the selection of a student-designed commemorative T-shirt graphic for actual production and retail sale at the Rajadamnern Stadium souvenir shop. This accomplishment demonstrates the students’ ability to create designs that successfully meet both creative and commercial objectives.
