BU Communication Arts Student Selected for National Media Literacy Expert Program

Congratulations to Ms. Manita Meepiean, a student from the Communication and New Media program, Faculty of Communication Arts, who has been selected to participate in the Media Literacy Expert (MeLEx) Program, 2nd cohort. The program is organized by the Safe and Creative Media Development Fund, a national-level practical training project aimed at building a network of young people with media literacy skills who are ready to serve as role models for safe and creative communication.

This selection reflects the potential of students from the Communication and New Media Department at Bangkok University in learning, analyzing, and advancing media knowledge with quality. It also demonstrates their ability to participate in national-level platforms and to connect classroom knowledge with real-world social situations.

The Media Literacy Expert Program, 2nd cohort, accepted only 60 participants from across the country through a rigorous selection process. Applicants were required to present a plan for applying media literacy knowledge in practical settings, submit their resumes, and answer analytical questions that reflected critical thinking skills, understanding of contemporary media contexts, and social responsibility as both media creators and consumers. The training activities span 4 days with an additional 1-day study visit, focusing on developing media literacy skills, responsible communication, safe media creation, and serving as role models for driving social change through creative communication.

The Communication and New Media Department, Faculty of Communication Arts, extends congratulations and expresses confidence that the student's selection for this national-level program is not only a source of pride for the student but also reflects the quality of teaching and learning that aims to develop students with knowledge, skills, and awareness of media's role in society, ready to become quality new-generation communicators.
