BU launches Thailand’s first Alibaba Cloud Academy AI Lab
Bangkok University advances as a leader in AI education with the launch of the "Alibaba Cloud Academy AI Lab," Thailand's first AI laboratory, resulting from collaboration between Bangkok University and Alibaba Cloud to produce students ready to face the digital world and provide opportunities for students to learn AI technology and Cloud Computing from a global leader.
The official opening ceremony was attended by K.Purat Osathanugrah, President of Bangkok University, and Mr. Edward Liu, South Pacific Region ISV Business Development Director, Alibaba Cloud Intelligence Business Group, who jointly participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony on the 5th floor of the Surat Library Building, Bangkok University. Simultaneously, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony was held by Asst. Prof.Dr.Somyot Wattanakamolchai, Vice President for International Affairs and Mr. Edward Liu to continuously drive cooperation in education and personnel development in AI and Cloud Computing.
Alibaba Cloud Academy AI Lab is a comprehensive Cloud system covering the entire Alibaba Cloud Ecosystem, established to serve as a knowledge center for Cloud Computing and AI for students, complete with laboratories and equipment featuring the ECS (Elastic Compute Service) system and numerous learning courses. This provides opportunities for Bangkok University students to receive training in courses arranged in progressive levels from basic to advanced, and increases employment opportunities with Alibaba Cloud certification.
The ECS system is the core of the Cloud system that enables all systems in the Alibaba Cloud Academy AI Lab to operate efficiently and powerfully, serving as the main driving force of the laboratory that allows students to learn and experiment with Cloud Computing technology realistically. Meanwhile, intelligent and secure Cloud computing services such as MaxCompute, PAI, and Function Compute function as the brain and nervous system of the Cloud, making the learning system intelligent, flexible, and ready for continuous development.
Additionally, students receive hands-on learning experiences including full access to Cloud data for research, practical training through the Alibaba Cloud platform, and development of data analysis skills using professional-grade tools.
The event also featured a Panel Discussion on "AI-POWERED LEARNING FOR CAREER DEVELOPMENT" led by top experts from various fields: Dr. Sittapong Settapat - Head of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Department, Krungsri Dr. Papon Yongpisanpop - Director & Senior International Training Advisor, Alibaba Cloud Ms. Veeramol Chongchanasittho - Head of L&D and CRC Academic for Central Retail and Mr. Hatsadin Kampiranond - Director of Asset Management, depa. The four experts exchanged perspectives on essential human skills in an AI-driven world and self-development approaches for future business leaders and professionals.
This collaboration marks a significant step in elevating Bangkok University to become an AI Learning Hub to promote students as professionals with expertise in AI and Cloud technology, ready to meet the demands of the digital job market and jointly create innovations for a sustainable future.
