BUCA Students Join Forces to Produce Short Films Highlighting Stray Animal Issues, Aiming to Raise Adoption Awareness

Students from School of Communication Arts participated in a workshop organized by The Voice Foundation (Voice From Us).

Students from School of Communication Arts participated in a workshop organized by The Voice Foundation (Voice From Us). Led by Ms. Chonlada Sirisanti (Mekratri), the Foundation's President, this initiative provided students with an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in creating short films under the theme "Not Ready, Don't Adopt." The content aims to raise awareness and understanding about pet adoption decisions, helping to reduce the problem of "abandoned" animals that contribute to the stray population in society.

The seminar featured distinguished guests including Ms. Nonthree Nimibutr, film director and producer; Mr. Ananda Everingham, actor and executive of Hello Productions Co., Ltd.; and Mr. Nattawut Poonpiriya, film director (recipient of the Suphannahong Award for Best Picture for "Bad Genius," etc.). These industry professionals conducted workshops to share knowledge and enhance the capabilities of student representatives from four institutions: Bangkok University, University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, Dhurakij Pundit University, and Sripatum University. The workshop covered contest criteria and conditions for short film submissions, emphasizing that stories must address the issue of abandoned pets due to unprepared owners. Content should be touching, understandable, and accessible to all ages, avoiding violent or cruel depictions of animal abuse and maintaining intellectual property rights. Films must be 60-90 seconds long, with each institution limited to three participating groups. The Voice Foundation will provide access to animals under their care for film production purposes.

Participating students receive a production fund of 5,000 baht per team to create their entries for scholarship prizes: First Prize of 30,000 baht, First Runner-up Prize of 20,000 baht (sponsored by Thai Media Fund), Honorable Mention Prize of 12,000 baht, and Popular Vote Prize of 8,000 baht. The winning short films will be showcased on PLAN B's promotional screens at various locations including BTS stations, Centerpoint Siam Square, Don Mueang Airport, 7-Eleven Plus, Show DC, CITY TV, and across The Voice Foundation's social media channels.
