Department of Fashion Design, School of Fine and Applied Arts, continues to prepare the next generation of designers for the professional world through the "BU X GAGAN" project — a collaboration with GAGAN (Thailand) Co., Ltd. that brings industry experience and perspectives directly to third-year students in the course FSD344 Fashion Technology.

The project was held under the theme "Expectations of the Fashion Industry Toward Interns," giving students the opportunity to learn what employers expect from interns — covering professional knowledge and skills, personality, responsibility, work discipline, communication, and the ability to collaborate with others.

 

Preparing for the fashion industry requires more than design ability alone. Students must also understand workplace systems, organizational culture, and how to adapt to real working environments. This project therefore serves as a bridge connecting classroom knowledge with the experience of industry professionals, helping students gain a clearer picture of their career path and how to develop themselves further.

Beyond lectures and experience-sharing sessions, the project also gave students the chance to learn how to prepare a portfolio suited to specific job positions, as well as the opportunity to submit their work for consideration for internship placements based on the company's needs and context. This was an important opportunity for students to practice presenting their own potential and to prepare themselves before entering the real job application process.
 

The BU X GAGAN project reflects the teaching approach of the Department of Fashion Design at Bangkok University, which places strong emphasis on experiential learning, collaboration with industry partners, and developing students who possess creativity, professional skills, and readiness for the real working world.

At BU Fashion, students don't just learn how to create fashion work — they also learn how to think, how to work, and how to grow into professional designers, confidently turning their passion into a career path in the fashion and creative industries.
